I listen, I try, I make.
I’ve been described as an “old school designer” who enjoys workflows & context. I enjoy platform thinking, strategy, & architecture. I keep my design tool box at my side at all times, choosing to remain adaptable to the user needs & a project’s flow.
I believe in bringing everyone with you, whether that is presenting a flow to stakeholders, mentoring another teammate, or creating documentation of my work. Empathy is my north star; listening is my super power.
I like the complex, messy parts of the process: getting to the bottom of the actual problem, pulling out all of my design tools, & seeing what’s going to work. I dig into data analysis, map end-to-end systems, & try to work like a user.
I appreciate the connections that being embedded with a team can bring. I enjoy collaborating with teammates & learning from one another. I understand the power of working together towards a goal. Doing good work is important, & building relationships is crucial to doing good work.
At Cvent, we did a Social Skills exercise & made designer trading cards as a group activity while learning Figma in 2020.
I do a lot of different things, but at the heart of it all, I listen, I try, & I make. Sometimes I fail. But I always try again. After all, I’m a maker.
I’ve been designing, publishing, creating, & writing for over 30 years. I have a background in creativity & communications, with a focus on production.
I live in Atlanta with my family & small menagerie of pets.
My current fascination is metalsmithing. I’ve been working with precious metals & semi-precious stones since 2009. Since 2010, I’ve run an Etsy store & most recently, moved to Big Cartel.
